The Colossi of Memnon depict Amenhotep III, and were built in the 14th century BC of quartzite sandstone found at el Gabal el Ahmar. One of the sculptures is known for its "singing," made when the wind passes through a crack in the structure, made after an earthquake in 27 BC.
