The locket measures 7 8 inches and has a concave design, with 14k gold and brilliant cut work on the surface. The figure depicted in the medallion is a lady with a powdered wig, an inclined gaze and a purple dress. The medallion dates from the 1880s, but the outline in platinum of rose cut diamonds was added in the 1900s
